NLP & hypnotherapy for children, shaped by 25 years in education

Therapeutic tools that are gentle, practical and child-friendly — used by someone who understands how children learn, play and cope in the real world.

The toolkit

Two approaches, explained simply

Parents often ask what NLP and hypnotherapy actually involve. Here's a plain-English guide.

NLP

Neuro-Linguistic Programming

NLP looks at the connection between how we think, the words we use and how we behave. For children, it's a practical and often playful way to notice unhelpful thought patterns and swap them for more helpful ones.

We might use visualisation, reframing and simple, memorable techniques your child can use on their own — a toolkit they carry into the classroom, the playground and home.

Hypnotherapy

Calm, focused and in control

Hypnotherapy with children is nothing like stage hypnosis. It's a relaxed, focused state — much like being absorbed in a good story or a daydream — where positive suggestions and new ways of responding can take root.

Your child stays aware and in control throughout. Many children find it a lovely, calming experience, and it can be particularly helpful for anxiety, sleep, confidence and unwanted habits.

The difference

Why an educator's background matters

Many of the difficulties children face show up at school — in the classroom, at break time or on the walk through the gate. Having spent 25+ years in education, Montessori settings and SEND support, I understand those pressures first-hand.

  • I understand classroom life, school routines and how SEND support works
  • Strategies are practical enough to use in real life, not just in sessions
  • A Montessori background means I follow your child's lead and build independence
  • Parents are part of the conversation from the very start
Working together

What to expect

  1. An informal chat

Get in touch and we'll talk through what's been happening and what you'd like to change. No pressure, no commitment.

  2. The full picture

I take time to understand your child — their strengths, their challenges, and life at school and at home.

  3. A tailored programme

Sessions are built around your child, blending NLP, hypnotherapy and practical strategies that suit their personality and needs.

  4. Growing independence

As your child's confidence builds, they take ownership of their tools — so progress lasts well beyond our work together.

Questions from parents

Frequently asked questions

Is hypnotherapy suitable for children?

Hypnotherapy with children is gentle and nothing like stage hypnosis. It's simply a relaxed, focused state, much like being absorbed in a good story, and your child stays aware and in control throughout. Nothing happens that your child doesn't want to happen.

Does my child need a diagnosis?

No. Some children I work with have a diagnosis such as ADHD or autism, and many don't. If your child is struggling, that's reason enough to get in touch.

How many sessions will my child need?

Every child is different, so every programme is different. Once I understand your child's needs, I'll give you a clear idea of what I'd recommend.

Will I be involved as a parent?

Yes. You know your child best. I'll talk with you at the start to understand the full picture of school, home and family life, and keep you involved as we go.

Does this replace medical or specialist support?

No. My work is designed to complement, not replace, support from your GP, CAMHS, your child's school or other professionals. If I feel another service would help, I'll always say so.

How do I get started?

Get in touch by phone, email or the contact form. Calls are welcome any time, and we'll have an informal chat about your child and how I might help.

Still have questions?

I'm always happy to talk things through. Call, email or send a message — whichever feels easiest.
